Professional Steven Jeffress has claimed victory in the BBC Digital Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Pro-Am following a round of 6-under par 66 around the River Course in blustery wind conditions out of the North.
Jeffress recorded a bogey-free round in the strong wind conditions using the strategy of playing conservative golf around the challenging River Course.
“There really tight driving lines off the tee here," said Jeffress.
“My strategy was to just hit to the corners leaving myself in the middle of the fairway with a mid iron into the greens.
“I just didn’t do anything wrong out there today, the only green I missed was on the 9th hole but I managed to make the up and down to save my par."
The next best placed professionals were Nick Russell and Chris Wood who recorded rounds of 2-under par 70 finishing in outright second position.
“The course was presented well for the event and credit must go to all involved," said Russell.
“It was difficult out there in the wind and I am pleased with my result."
The next stop on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series is the Southport Pro-Am on Monday 3rd September 2018.
