Trio impress at Murrumbidgee Legends Pro-Am

Ben Jackson, Douglas Maiden and Simon Tooman have won the Murrumbidgee Legends Pro-Am with rounds of 3-under 69.

Murrumbidgee Country Club has been a long-standing host of Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series events and in 2019 presented its first Ladbrokes Legends Tour tournament with great success.

Perfect conditions greeted players at the Murrumbidgee layout where a competitive field of 42 professionals put their game to the test.

Jackson, Maiden and Tooman were the most impressive of the bunch to claim an easy two-shot win.

“The course was great and the win will give me confidence going into this week’s NSW Senior Open,” said Jackson.

The Murrumbidgee Legends Pro-Am was the perfect precursor to the upcoming Lincoln Place NSW Senior Open, allowing many big name players to hone their skills prior to Friday’s tournament.

An in-form Terry Price claimed fourth place after firing a round of 1-under 71 to finish ahead of a logjam of players tied for fifth place.

Brad Burns, Shaquill Mongol, Perry Parker, Darryl Purchase, Dean Sipson and Peter Woodward all recorded rounds of even par.

Super Senior honours were awarded to Neil Wall with a round of 4-over 76.

The Ladbrokes Legends Tour’s richest event, the Lincoln Place NSW Senior Masters, begins on Friday at Thurgoona Country Club Resort.
