Burns takes seven-stroke win at Roseville Legends Pro-Am

Brad Burns has fired the only under-par round at the 91st Roseville Gold Mashie and Ladies Legends Pro-Am to win one of the longest standing events in Australian golf.

An opening round of 67 in blustery, testing conditions set a foundation for Burns who sat atop the leaderboard alongside Peter Lonard, David Saunders and Ben Jackson.

The final round of the Ladbrokes Legends Tour event was set up for an exciting conclusion with no less than 12 players within two shots of the lead.

It was Burns who proved the best of the day, however, shooting a final round of 3-under 63 to equal the course record at Roseville Golf Club and post a two-round total of 2-under 130.

The key to victory for Burns was an outstanding score of 2-under 28 on the layout’s extremely difficult front-nine.

The record saw Burns finish an astonishing seven shots ahead of his fellow Legends.

“The golf course is spectacular here and it’s a great challenge. I played well all day but the start of the round was crucial being 2-under through the difficult front-nine,” said Burns.

Another highlight came from Darryl Purchase in the final round who fired a hole-in-one at the 130-meter par-3 8th hole.

Ladbrokes Legends Tour Order of Merit leader Michael Harwood claimed second place alongside Peter Lonard and Ken Tarling at 5-over.

Douglas Maiden, Martin Peterson and John Serhan completed the top-five at 6-over the card.

The Ladbrokes Legends Tour now moves to Elanora Country Club for the next event on the calendar.
