An extraordinary front-9 holes which featured just one par has vaulted Cameron Percy to a top-10 finish at the Web.com Tour’s Rex Hospital Open.
Percy made a routine par at the opening hole of the TPC Wakefield Plantation course then a dropped a shot at the second.
What followed was five straight birdies before a second bogey and a sixth birdie for the day at the ninth to make the turn 4-under for the day.
A less adventurous second-9 featured three birdies and no dropped shots, the 7-under 64 lifting Percy 34 places up the leaderboard to a share of seventh place.
He was the only one of the five Australians who made the cut to finish in the top-10 with Rhein Gibson next best at T24.
Gibson is the best placed of the Australian contingent on the Web.com money list at 55th, the goal being the top-25 by the end of the year and a card to play the PGA TOUR.
Stuart Appleby finished T39 with Brett Drewitt and Robert Allenby both T52 while Peter Lonard, Steve Allan and Jamie Arnold all missed the cut.
