Six Aussies have made it through to the weekend action at
the 154th Open Championship.

Being played at Royal Troon, Adam Scott and Matt Jones are
leading the Aussie contingent which was 11 strong at the start of the week.

Scott and Jones each fired rounds of 69 and 73 to be tied 27^th
at even par after the opening two days play.

It was a frustrating day on course for Scott who just couldn’t
find the spark required to kick-start his round.

"I don’t know if it’s a case of not hitting it close enough
or not holing any putts, it may be both. But just being very patient, never
really created the opportunities I would have liked," said Scott.

"I never got that long one to drop and get anything going. Then
unfortunately hit two poor 3-woods on the back nine, which got me in trouble on
11 and 13 and dropped shots."

"If I had shot even par I wouldn’t be too disappointed, but to lose a couple
wasn’t really the plan."

Greg Chalmers is 1-over after two rounds and tied 41^st.
The highlight of his 2016 Open campaign so far, recording two birdies at Royal
Troon’s famous postage stamp hole.

Joining Chalmers at 41^st is Marc Leishman who had
the best second round of all the Australians. He fired a 2-under 69 to move up
69 places on the leaderboard and ensure his safety into the weekend.

"I’d like to do what I did last year and put a low one out
there on Saturday and try and get myself within distance of the leaders," said
Leishman.

"At the moment I’m a long way back, but at 3-over after the
first round, and then to play in these conditions and shoot under par I’m
really happy."

Also tied 41^st is World Number 1 Jason Day. He
fought back from an opening round of 2-over to shot 1-under in the second
round.

"It’s nice to be able to come into a day like this knowing
that I need to play good golf, get on top of my game and shoot 70. Get myself
back to making the cut," said Day.

"Hopefully over the next two days get myself back into
contention. That would be nice."

Scott Hend is the final Australian to have made the 36 hole
cut. He recorded rounds of 71 and 73 to be 2-over the card and tied 50^th.

At 5-over the card Marcus Fraser and Rod Pampling will miss
the weekend action. As will Australian PGA Champion Nathan Holman who is 6-over
after two rounds in his Major debut.

Playing in his second Open Championship Nick Cullen has
missed the cut for a second time with scores of 74 and 76 to be 8-over after
two days.

With rounds of 79 and 78 Steven Bowditch rounds out the
Aussies contingent and on 15-over the card he will also miss the weekend action.
