Amateur Todd Sinnott stole the lime light this morning at the BetEasy Masters played at Metropolitan Golf Club.
Starting the day tied for the lead, Sinnott maintained his position on the leaderboard.
"I’ve got a game plan. It obviously worked yesterday and it worked for a lot of today," said Sinnott who fired a second round 1-under 71 to be 6-under the card.
"I’m pretty comfortable around this course. I know what I’m doing out there."
A member at Metro, Sinnott used his course knowledge to handle the flukey conditions; however he did adopt a different game plan.
"I have to think a bit more and sort of go into damage control, keeping it out of trouble," said Sinnott.
"When I’m playing with mates, I’m hitting driver on every hole pretty much."
Making a name for himself for his prodigious long hitting abilities, Sinnott has a distinct advantage on the course.
"I think someone sent me a picture yesterday that it (his drive) was 341m or something on 14," added Sinnott who birdied the 546m par-5 14th in the first round.
"I’m definitely hitting less club off the tee, so irons, woods, that’s probably a good thing. I think it’s an advantage, but it’s how you use it."
Sinnott came into this week with a top-10 goal in mind but finds himself at the top of the leaderboard after two rounds.
"I’ve played all right in some Pro events before, in Perth four weeks ago," added Sinnott who finished leading amateur and top-10 at the WA Open in October.
"Top-10 at the start of the week would have been a pretty good result."
"But I’ve put myself in a nice position going into the weekend, so just do as good as I can and see what the result brings."
The afternoon field are now on course.
