Rookie Todd Sinnott will make his third start in as many weeks in Africa after receiving another sponsor’s invitation to the European Tour’s Tshwane Open in Pretoria this week.
Sinnott, one of Australia’s leading amateurs before earning his PGA Tour of Australasia card at the end of last year, has made one cut and missed one cut in the past fortnight.
The big hitting Victorian struggled in his first European Tour start two weeks ago though Brett Ogle said on Fox Sports’ Golf Show last night Sinnott may have been suffering with an abscess on his hand that week which required draining.
His form last week was better, though not stellar, and having now cashed his first cheque on the European Tour his expectations for this week will no doubt be higher.
Sinnott is joined in the field by Brett Rumford who also showed signs of turning around a lengthy slump with his play last week.
The five time European Tour winner hasn’t posted a top 10 result outside Australia since January last year but three consecutive rounds under par at the Africa Open are an encouraging sign for the veteran.
Tour rookie Jason Scrivener is listed as first alternate for the event which should give him some chance of making his fourth career start as a European Tour member.
