Former US PGA Tour star Michael Sim has fired a round of 56 at Victoria Park Complex to win the City of Brisbane Pro-Am

""Sim carded a 9-under 56, to finish two shots ahead of a pack of players including, Callan O’Reilly, Marcus Cain, Brenton Parrish and Steve Jones.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Sim, who found himself at 1-over par standing on the 6th tee.

Two eagles and a birdie over the next four holes was the spark required for Sim to turn the day around.

A further five birdies over the back nine to post a 9-under the card round was enough to see him victorious.

"It wasn’t one of my greatest starts to a round. But it was a real positive to have turned that poor start around and produce some quality golf over the final 13 holes," said Sim.

"It’s been great to play in a few pro-am events lately. They are a good indicator of where may game is at."

A regular on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, Sim hopes his pro-am win is indicative of what is to come on Tour.

"It’s nice to get a win here at Victoria Park and I hope it leads to further success over the coming months," add Sim who is currently 11th on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit.

"My plan is to finish in the top-5 on the Tour in 2016. I have put myself in a really good position over the first half of the year to reach that goal."

The City of Brisbane Pro-Am is fast becoming one of the most talked about pro-ams on the Sunshine Swing of the PGA Pro-Am Series and the team at Victoria Park Golf Complex are looking forward to what the future holds.

"This event is one of the best ways to showcase our facility each year directly to the golf industry. It’s great to see the amount of publicity the tournament receives each year," said Tim Porter, the Director of Golf at Victoria Park.

"The tournament continues to grow in stature and we are looking forward to what the future holds."

The Sunshine Swing of the PGA Pro-Am Series will now make its way to the Virginia Golf Club on Friday for the Breakas Beach Resort Virginia Pro-Am.
