Adam Scott’s switch to the regulation putter doesn’t seem to have hurt his game, the former Masters winner posting an excellent T4 result at the WGC Cadillac Championship, his first tournament in almost three months.
Adam Scott’s switch to the regulation putter doesn’t seem to have hurt his game, the former Masters winner posting an excellent T4 result at the WGC Cadillac Championship, his first tournament in almost three months.
Scott finished five shots behind winner Dustin Johnson with
rounds of 70-68-75-71 at the difficult Doral layout but will be particularly
pleased to have putted well for the week after three years using the anchored
method.
While disappointed with his ball striking in the third
round, where he found nine bunkers on his way to a 75, overall the week was a
success for Australia’s only Masters winner.
The high finish also ensured Scott would leapfrog fellow
Queenslander Jason Day to once again be the highest ranked Australian at 4th
in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Day was next best among the Australians in a share of 31st,
the week proving a continuation of a difficult relationship with the Doral
layout.
Day has yet to post a top-10 finish in four starts at the
Florida course and with opening rounds of 76-74 was in early trouble again this
year.
While he managed to shoot under par both Saturday and Sunday,
Day will likely not be pleased with his performance though with a win already
under his belt this year 2015 is shaping as a good season.
John Senden finished on the same score as Day while the
remaining Australians in the field, Greg Chalmers (T49), Geoff Ogilvy (61) and
Steven Jeffress (T62), were all well back.
