Blustery conditions made scoring difficult for the 47 professionals that teed it up today in the inaugural North Shore Realty Legends Pro-Am.
Darren Rix, however, bucked the general trend of scoring to secure the win following his 3-under par 69.
Rix finished two shots ahead of Martin Petersen, David Good and Brad Burns, who eagled his final hole to move into a share of second.
“I hit the ball really nicely out there today, and in fact, the round could have been even better if a few more putts had of dropped,” said Rix.
“Mt Coolum isn’t a long course, but it is tight and you can really rack a big number if you miss it in the wrong spot. It was easy to do this today with the swirling wind, but thankfully I was able to keep my ball on the cut grass for most of the day.”
The Legends will enjoy Tuesday off before heading to the inaugural Beerwah Legends Pro-Am on Wednesday.
