Pacific Harbour Country Club on Bribie Island is rated one of the most difficult golf courses in Queensland and for the very first time welcomed the professionals from the PGA Ladbrokes Legends Tour today.
In the end it would be Darren Rix that would produce one of his best rounds of the year, to walk away with his maiden victory on the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour.
Rix fired a three under par 69, to finish four shots ahead of Bryan Wearne, with Rix the only player managing to break par..
This is Rix’s 20th tournament on the Legends Tour and the win was only made possible through a late withdrawal during the week.
“Pacific Harbour is a demanding course and I knew that I was going to have to play well to be in a chance and that’s what I did,” said Rix.
“Today was just one of those days, no matter what I did it worked in my favour. It’s great win here today, especially when good friend of mine in David Podlich and his partner is the major sponsor.”
The Pacific Harbour Legends Pro-Am wouldn’t not have been possible without the support of the Moreton Bay Regional Council, with its support continuing on with the inaugural Pine Rivers Legends Pro-Am teeing off on Sunday.
