QLD PGA Championship returns to Toowoomba in 2020

The ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia will return to City Golf Club in 2020 for the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship.

Following 10 years of success at the Toowoomba based club, a new partnership extension will see the tournament enter its 11th year at the club and ensures the Queensland PGA Championship remains a highlight on the schedule in 2020.

To be played from 13-16 February, the week after the ISPS HANDA Vic Open, the field is set to feature reigning champion Daniel Nisbet who will headline the $150,000 competition.

“We are pleased that City Golf Club will once again host one of the great events on our calendar,” said Nick Dastey, Tournaments Director Australasia at the PGA of Australia, which owns and operates the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.

“The club has done an amazing job of producing a course and tournament atmosphere that keeps them coming back year after year.

“The level of talent on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia gets deeper each year and clubs like this are a big part of our development. I would like to thank City Golf Club for our continued strong relationship and for supporting professional golf.”

Since its move to Toowoomba, the QLD PGA Championship has become a highlight for the region and a week-long community festival of golf.

Ed Britnell, President of City Golf Club, believes the tournament provides a wide range of benefits for the Toowoomba community.

“The City Golf Club is proud to once again host the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship in 2020 and provide the community the chance to watch and interact with up and coming tour professionals,” he said.

“This tournament has assisted us to promote not only our club, but Toowoomba and surrounding regions as a golf tourism destination.

“We look forward to welcoming the players back once again for another great tournament week, with this being the 11th year of the tournament in Toowoomba.”
