New approach providing dividends for Fox

Celebrating his 39th birthday tomorrow, Daniel Fox has been a regular on the PGA Tour of Australasia since 2010.

"DanielSo far in 2015, Fox is ranked is 8th on the
Order of Merit and is experiencing his best season on Tour, highlighted by a
runner-up finish at the WA PGA Championship last week and outright 6th
at the New Zealand Open.

According to Fox his run of good results is down to an
improved attitude on and off the course.

"I have been putting plenty of hard
work in. My golf game has never been the issue. Perhaps I haven’t trusted it
enough. It’s more of a mental battle for me a lot of the time," said Fox.

"A few changes to my normal plan are
playing dividends. I haven’t reinvented the wheel but it’s about doing what
works for me."

The plan Fox refers to is more focused
on his post-round routines rather than working on his game.

"Basically no booze. It’s just one of
those things where you come in after golf and think you can have a few beers
and relax but it can be quite taxing."

"It’s hard to get the water and
nutrients back into your body when you are taking it out for no real good
reason," added Fox, who has been working with a new personal trainer, the same
one frequented by Brett Rumford.

"I am doing more work with my trainer
Aaron than on course work. My game is the easy part, trying to be disciplined
off the course has been quite tough."

"But it’s just a matter of playing golf
then worrying about all the other stuff that makes up the difference in good
performances."

"It’s not hard stuff; it’s just that I
am old and lazy. Just something small like drinking more water, being hydrated,
stretching more after the game as opposed to having a couple of beers and doing
nothing."

So far the plan has been working for
Fox and he is looking forward to more good results over the Australian summer
of golf.

"I have a plan in place, if nothing
else, if I just turn up and play within myself there is no reason I shouldn’t be
contending more often."
