There were mixed fortunes at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links for David McKenzie and Peter Lonard in the final round of the Champions Tour’s PURE Insurance Championship.
McKenzie had three birdies on the front-9 – including a 2 at the picturesque par-3 7th – but a double bogey at the 10th and bogeys at his two closing holes saw the Victorian sign for a 1-under 71 that moved him up eight spots and into a tie for 28th.
Three bogeys and a double on his opening nine holes saw Lonard go in the other direction on the leaderboard, a closing birdie at the par-5 18th a positive way to end a week in which he finished tied for 44th.
Playing in just his fifth event of the year, Kiwi Grant Waite had 76 on Sunday to finish tied for 47th.
