Having played his way to the Champions Tour with some impressive results in 2017, David McKenzie tees up in his first U.S. based Senior major at this week’s Regions Tradition tournament in Alabama.
McKenzie made his over 50’s debut at last year’s Senior Open Championship in Wales where he finished T9 and having since earned status in the US has teed up six times in 2018.
A T3 at the Rapsican Systems Classic in March has been his best result to date but he will be motivated by the major status of this week’s event.
The Regions Tradition is an unusual tournament as it is afforded major status in the US though not recognised as such by the European Senior Tour.
However, that will be of little concern to McKenzie whose goal for the season is to be among the top 36 money earners and ensure full playing status next year.
He currently sits 46th on the Charles Schwab Cup list and a good showing this week would go a long way to lifting him into the top 36.
His form to date in 2018 has been steady though unspectacular, two top 25’s and the T3 finish the highlights since the season kicked off in February.
