Shelly Beach again turned on perfect weather and a pristine golf course for the Ladbrokes PGA Coca-Cola Shelly Beach Pro-Am.
The Shelly Beach event won NSW/ACT 18 Hole Tournament of the Year in 2016 and has always attracted a quality field of professionals.
It was great to see local golfer Richard Bacon who is able to play golf through the vision of Empower Golf, competing in the afternoon field.
“Richard plays with the assistance of the paragolfer, seeing him playing in the event was very inspiring and something I would love to see more of in our events," said Peter Welden NSW/ACT Tournament Coordinator.
David Van Raalte would set the early pace with a 2-under par 69 which would see him three shots clear of the morning field.
Leigh McKechnie would be the only player to better Van Raalte’s morning score.
McKechnie shot a bogey free 3-under par 68 which would see him take victory for the second time in the event.
“It’s been a long time between drinks here but it’s great to win again. No bogeys on the card really helped," said McKechnie.
Van Raalte would finish runner up with Mitchell Brown on 2-under par 69.
Rounding out the top five were Aaron Townsend, Dale Williamson and Lincoln Tighe who shot 1-under par 70’s.
