21 of 43 players handed cards with below par scores again, setting the scene for a final round shootout at The Cut Golf Course today.
The day belonged to Victorian James Marchesani who recorded a new course record of 9-under 63 to sit in second position on 12-under par and one back from fellow Victorian and arguably the form player of WA swing of the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series, Ash Hall.
“This was my first look at the course, wow what a hidden gem, I can now see how there was seven WA Opens held here in the 90’s.” Marchesani said following his round.
“I got off to a great start with a birdie my first hole and followed that up with three eagles.”
Round one leader Ryan Lynch (VIC) shot 2-under to be sitting 3rd on 11-under par with local favourite Braden Becker.
