Macpherson has blitzed the Tour since returning from the US in September, two wins and just one finish outside the top five in seven starts a stunning turnaround in form.
New Zealand’s Josh Geary led the money list for much of the season after three wins but Macpherson’s brilliance has seen him move into prime position to claim a full Web.com Tour card for the 2016 season.
The top five players on the end of season money list earn Web.com status but only the leader receives full exemption.
Macpherson, who played the PGA Tour China in its inaugural year in 2014, played much of 2015 on the secondary Web.com Tour after earning a card at the end of year Q-School.
However, he struggled to find his feet and in 20 starts made just nine cuts with a best finish of T18.
That seems likely to change next year as Macpherson returns to America with a new found confidence and more familiarity with the Web.com lifestyle.
Macpherson was one of 13 Australians in the Hainan Open field, Jack Munro the only other to finish inside the top 10 with a T7 result.
Christopher Brown and Gavin Flint (T12) and Peter Martin (T20) were the only others inside the top 25.
Macpherson is the only Australian inside the top 10 on the money list, Rohan Blizard next best at 15th with one tournament remaining on the schedule.
