Damien Jordan has his sights set on the skies thanks to his win at the City of Brisbane Pro-Am today.
Jordan has
taken a huge step to winning the 250,000 frequent flyer points awarded to the
bmag Week of Golf champion, with his victory.
His 9-under
56 effort around the Victoria Park layout, was good enough to finish one shot
ahead of R.J. Caracella with Peter Shaw and Brett Rankin finishing a further
shot back in third.
This is
Jordan’s second win on the Sunshine Swing of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am
Series in 2015, after also claiming the Maryborough Pro-Am last month.
"I knew at
the start of the day I was going to need a low score if I was going to give
myself a chance, so I am pretty proud at the moment that I achieved what I set
out to do," said Jordan.
With his
victory today, Jordan also moves to second place in the bmag Week of
Golf, one shot behind the defending champion Brett Rankin.
Rankin sits
atop at 12-under following the opening two rounds, with Jordan one shot shy at
11-under.
Jordan is
aiming for another low round in the final event of the series to have a chance
of claiming the coveted prize of 250,000 frequent flyer points.
"It’s nice to
find myself near the lead following the opening two rounds, but I know I need
to continue on with my form tomorrow if I am going to give myself a chance to
chase down Brett," added Jordan.
"The 250,000
frequent flyer points is one thing that we all want to win, as it will assist
the winner not only to embark on the PGA Tour of Australasia tournaments over
the coming months, but may also give that player an opportunity to compete at
an international qualifying school."
They may not
have finished a top the leaderboard today, but Terry Price and Troy Cox both
provided highlights of their own.
The pair has
added their names to the honour boards at the Victoria Park Golf Course, with
both players executing perfect wedge shots to each record a hole-in-one at the
80 metre par-3 17th.
Professionals
will now make their way to Indooroopilly Pro-Am tomorrow, with the tournament
drawing the curtain on the 2015 bmag Week of Golf.
