Greg Carroll and Stephen Hutchison will take a one stroke lead into the final round of the $30,000 Bartons / BMD QLD Senior PGA Championship after an opening round of 2-under par 68 at Wynnum Golf Club.
Hutchison, who is the General Manager at Twin Waters Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast, commented on an extraordinary finish to his round.
“I hit 15 greens today so I gave myself plenty of birdie opportunities though I did hole my last shot of the day with a sand iron which was a great way to finish," said Hutchison.
For Carroll it was a tale of two nines with 2 over par on the front-9 and 4-under par on the back.
Both Hutchison and Carroll’s round included four birdies, one eagle, two bogies and a double bogey.
The chasing pack is full of quality however with Tim Elliott, Lucien Tinkler and defending champion Tod Power one shot off the lead, and international winners Peter Senior and Steve Conran a further shot behind.
The final round is now underway with a winner due to be crowned at approximately 4:00pm.
