Another beautiful autumn day greeted professionals for the final round of the Moranbah Mini Earthmovers Pro-Am at the Moranbah Golf Club.
Professional Paul Hayden shot rounds of 68 and 65 for an 11-under par 133 total to claim victory by one shot over Harrison Russell.
Hayden started the final round three shots behind overnight leader Aaron Pike and shot the low round of the day 7-under 65 to storm home.
Indooroopilly Golf Club based professional Hayden got off to the dream start of 5-under par through his first five holes, then a bogey at the 7th slowed the charge.
Hayden regained his composure to steady his round then disaster struck again recording a double bogey on the 15th hole.
“I missed my drive off the tee and finished in the trees and from here I made double bogey, which was disappointing,” said Hayden.
“I still managed to finish the round well with a birdie, birdie, par, birdie finish courtesy of a chip on my last hole which ended up making all the difference.”
The next best placed professional was New South Welshman Harrison Russell who recorded his best performance so far in the series finishing on 10-under 134, total for the event.
Queenslander Brett Rankin still holds the lead in the Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series on 23-under par, two shots clear of Paul Hayden who is currently sitting at 21-under par.
The next stop on the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series will be the Middlemount Golf Club where play begins at 7.00am Saturday 26 May for the Middlemount South Pro-Am.
