After a long absence the Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club event is now an annual fixture on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series schedule.
The Tweed Coast Mazda & Tweed Coast Nissan Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Pro-Am has been contested around the River Course and has attracted a strong field of Professionals.
In form Professional Tim Hart has fired a solid 7-under par 65 to secure his second win of the year and back to back victories on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series.
“I just kept it simple today”, said Hart.
“My goal was to try not to make a bogey; I did on my second last hole though. I found the fairway bunker off the tee and as a result made bogey.:
Hart’s round included birdies on the 1st, 5th, 6th, 11th, 16th and 18th holes and an eagle on the 441 meter, par 5, 14th hole.
“I knocked it on two par 4’s today which helped my scoring and the eagle on the 14th hole really was a turning point in my round," said Hart.
The next best placed Professional finishing outright second was Anthony Quayle after a round of 6-under par 66.
Sanctuary Cove based Quayle’s round included an eagle on the 463 meter, par 5, 1st hole and birdies on the 3rd, 8th, 9th to finish the front 9, 5-under par 31.
Further birdies on the 14th and 18th holes with just the lone bogey coming at the difficult 171 meter, par 3, 17th hole to close the back 9 in 1-under par 35.
“The highlight of the round was the eagle I made down the first," said Quayle.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had an eagle, I hit a great drive off the tee and only had a wedge in which I hit to 8 foot and made the putt."
The Professionals will now have a break in the schedule ahead of the Southport Pro-Am to be played at the Southport Golf Club on Monday 30 October.
