A 5-under
final round saw Matt Griffin jump seven places up the leaderboard at the Japan
Tour’s Fukushima Open, the lone Australian to make the cut posting a mid-field
finish on a low scoring week.
Griffin was
under par all four days but needed to be in a tournament which saw the winner
finish on an impressive 25-under-par.
Producing his
best golf of the week in the final round, Griffin got to double digits under
par for the 72 holes but his 10-under total was only good for T35.
Griffin and
Aaron Townsend were the only Australians to tee up in the event but Townsend
didn’t survive the 36-hole cut after opening with rounds of 73-75.
The Japan Tour
now has a one month break, returning in the last week of August.
