Rhein Gibson and Mark Hensby have led home the Australian challenge at the third Web.com Tour event of the season in Colombia.

Both players finished 5-under for the week and T25 though arrived at their totals in very different ways.

Hensby leapt up the standings after a second round 66 but added weekend scores of 70-71 to tread water the rest of the week.

Gibson’s week was almost the opposite, the 31-year-old starting slowly before racing to the finish line with a hot final round.

Like Hensby, Gibson’s best score of the week was 66 but he produced it Sunday to jump 20 places up the standings.

Finishing one shot behind that duo was Steve Allan who continues to play consistent golf on the secondary US Tour.

Allan stumbled to a 74 in the opening round but clawed his way back into the tournament with scores of 68-69-69 to be T30 at 4-under for the week.

Peter Lonard was the last of the Australians to make the cut as he plays several Web.com events this year in preparation for a tilt at the over 50’s circuit.

Rounds of 72-70-71-69 suggest his game is in decent shape as he heads towards his 50^th birthday mid year.

Sydney’s Jamie Arnold and qualifier Troy Kennedy both missed the cut.
