Back to back bogeys on the back nine on Sunday cost Rhein Gibson a chance at claiming his first Web.com Tour title at the weekend as he finished second by a shot at the Louisiana Open.

"RheinGibson held the lead for much of the final round but in a
tight scoring affair the late stumbles proved too much to overcome.

The 29-year-old is playing his first season on the Web.com
Tour and got off to a hot start at the first event of the year, where he
finished T6.

Gibson, known for his ability to go low, opened with a
9-under 62 to take the lead and was around the top of the board all week.

While he couldn’t match the fireworks of his opening round
he was under par each of the next two days and teed off in the final round just
one behind American Russ Cochran.

Three birdies in the first seven holes had Gibson two clear
early in the day but he failed to pick up any more shots over the rest of the
round and gave all three back by the 14th hole to finish one behind former US
Amateur champion Kelly Kraft.

Aron Price will also be rueing his back nine play after he
dropped six shots between the 12th tee and 15th green to
tumble out of the top-10 and finish in a share of 23rd.

Eight of the 14 Australians in the field made the cut with
Steve Allan (T16), Greg Chalmers (T61), Scott Gardiner (T66) Rod Pampling and
James Nitties (T71) and Mathew Goggin (T77) joining Gibson and Price.

Missing the weekend were Adam Crawford, Ash Hall, Alistair
Presnell, Bryden Macpherson, Oliver Goss and Nick Flanagan.
