Squally weather conditions greeted players on day two of competition but it wasn’t enough to faze the first round leader who held steady in his second round.

After finding the sand with his tee shot off the 2nd and hanging the ball out to the right to miss the green, Fraser managed to walk away with a par

He went onto card two of his four birdies on the front-9 at the par-4 3rd and par-5 5th hole.

A dropped shot by Henrik Stenson at the par-3 4th saw Fraser extend his lead out to three shots until a couple of unlucky bogeys on the back-9 saw his lead slide back to just one.

"The ball found a way to avoid the holes. But that’s golf. That’s the way it goes some days. Overall, I felt really comfortable out there," said Fraser.

"It’s always hard to back up a score like 63, but I felt like 2‑under 69 is a good effort after yesterday."

Fraser was glowing in his praise of the purpose built Olympic layout.

"Today felt so different from yesterday. I think that’s a testament to how good the golf course is," added Fraser.

"It can feel so different the next day, and even though it was a similar wind direction. Different pins and a few different tees and that kind of stuff, the course was set up perfectly."

A 2-under 69 for Scott Hend saw the Queenslander bounce back after his 3-over opening round. Hend moved 13 places on the leaderboard to T37 alongside Kiwi Ryan Fox, whose fellow countryman, Danny Lee, made a huge charge up the leaderboard; a 6-under 65 saw Lee move up 28 places to T6.

Fraser is paired with Belgium’s Thomas Pieters and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson in the third round of the Men’s Individual Stroke Play event. The trio will tee off at approximately 12:00am Sunday morning (AEDT).

Hend is paired with Canada’s David Hearn and Japan’s Yuta Ikeda in the third round and will tee off at approximately 9:45pm (AEDT).
