Rose will take a three shot lead into the final day of competition after what was a less than fabulous day for Fraser, as he grinded it out in windy conditions to try and maintain his lead and keep his medal chances alive.

Starting the day with a one shot lead, Fraser manage to card only one birdie, at the par-4 13th, only to back it up with his second bogey for the round on the following hole, the par-3 14th. Signing for 1-over 72 Fraser will head into the final day on 9-under the card.

"I felt a little bit scrappy out there. In these conditions, it’s probably going to be that way. But I felt like the wind direction didn’t really suit me to be honest. It made some of those holes pretty long and I couldn’t even reach some of the par 4s," said Fraser.

"I didn’t play well and I was a little bit off. When you’re a little bit off in these conditions on this golf course, it feels like you’re a long way off. But I’m pretty happy that I sort of stuck in there and managed to make plenty of par saves to give myself a chance tomorrow."

However, no one could match the performance of Rose, who fired two eagles and four birdies on his way to a 6-under 65 and will start the final round on 12-under the card.

"I felt like today was an important day. There were a lot of players obviously in contention after yesterday and I felt like today could be a day to separate or at least keep some momentum and not give yourself too much work to do tomorrow," said Rose.

The wild winds of Rio didn’t plague Scott Hend’s performance with the Queenslander managing an even par round that included six birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey to see him T36 going into tomorrow’s final round.

Fraser, Rose and Stenson will tee off in the final round of the Men’s Individual Stroke Play event at approximately 11:30pm (AEDT) tonight. Hend is paired with America’s Patrick Reed and South Africa’s Jaco van Zyl in the final round and will tee off at approximately 9:15pm (AEDT).

Channel 7 has live Olympic action of the Games in Rio de Janeiro across a number of platforms. Golf will be shown across Channel 7’s various free-to-air stations and will also be streamed live on the network’s "Olympics on 7" app.
