After a dazzling final round catapulted him to a T2 finish last week and sharing honours for the lowest round of the US Senior PGA a fortnight ago Peter Fowler will arrive at this week’e Jersey Open on the European Senior Tour one of the tournament favourites.
Fowler, Australia’s most successful over-50’s
campaigner in Europe, was 7-under for the weekend in Wales last week and just
two shots shy of victory but will tee up with plenty of confidence this week.
The Jersey Senior Open returns to the
schedule after a five year break, Fowler finishing T14 in 2010 the last time it
was played.
"This is a great golf
course, La Moye, and it has always been one of my favourite on Tour, so it is
nice to be back here," said Fowler on europeantour.com.
"I made my European
Tour debut here in 1983 after pre-qualifying at Foxhills and then made my first
Senior Tour appearance here too, so there are some special memories."
He is one of five Australians guaranteed a
start with Mike Harwood, Terry Price, Noel Ratcliffe and Tim Elliott also in
the field.
Glenn Joyner and Graham Banister are both
listed as alternates.
