The former NSW Open champion posted rounds of 71-71-69-69 to be 4-under for the week and T11, eclipsing his T14 finish from the matchplay tournament in Spain last month.
Eccles has played eight events to date on the 2018 Challenge Tour though is yet to produce his best golf with four missed cuts and a series of mid-field finishes.
Three Australians made the trip to Aviemore, Jack Munro joining Eccles in playing the weekend while Dimi Papadatos missed the cut.
Already a winner on the secondary Tour in 2018 it was Papadatos’ first missed weekend in five starts though he remains firmly inside the all-important top 15 on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah who will graduate to the main Tour in 2019.
