The E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour has spent the weekend at Hervey Bay to contest the Kerry Campbell Homes Fraser Coast Classic.
The biggest field in years descended on the Hervey Bay layout with 74 senior Professionals, including Peter Senior and Rodger Davis, who were joined by 140 amateurs.
David Merriman and Rodger Davis were victorious in the two round event, with the pair firing the 69, 67 and 66, 70 respectively to end the weekend on 4-under the card.
Perfect weather conditions saw good scoring on day one with David Hando, Peter Woodward and Peter Hayes each carding 1-under 69 to hold the early lead.
Davis carded the round of the day after birdies on his two closing holes saw him sign for his best round ever at Hervey Bay of 4-under 66.
However, Peter Senior could only manage a 72 after struggling to find his touch on the Queensland greens after 7 years in the US, but with precise ball striking no one was writing him off.
Brisk southerly winds and slightly harder pin positions kept the players on their toes on day two.
The morning field were unable to break par with Brisbane’s Paul Bosa carding even par 70 for a two-day total of 145 and Craig warren shooting 71 along with Guy Wall both to be on 144.
The afternoon saw some hot golf with five players beating par. Peter Woodward of Yarra Yarra Golf Club in Victoria shot 67 despite two three puts on the last two holes to post 137.
However, it was tour veterans Rodger Davis and David Merriman who would eventually share the Fraser Coast Classic Trophy.
