Nick Cullen and Daniel Fox will be the lone Australians in the field at this week’s Challenge de Espana on the European secondary tour.
With five events left on the 2017 schedule Cullen still has an opportunity to play his way to the 2018 European Tour though will need some good results in the finishing weeks to do so.
The 2014 Australian Masters champion presently sits 40th on the Road to Oman rankings but needs to be inside the top 15 by season’s end to graduate.
He sits approximately €22,000 behind the current 15th ranked player though with a €200,000 purse on offer this week has a good chance to gain ground.
Cullen will be encouraged by his play last week in Kazakhstan where a second round 66 was the highlight, the 6-under effort suggesting all elements of his game are close to aligning.
Fox has had a less successful 2017 campaign and through 10 events sits outside the top 100 on the year-long table.
