A disappointing weekend saw Sydney’s Jamie Arnold tumble down the leader board from sharing the halfway lead at the PGA TOUR China’s Eternal Courtyard Open to outside the top-25 by tournament’s end.
In brutally difficult winds on day two
Arnold did well to hold on to the share of the lead he established through 18
holes despite shooting a 2-over-par 74 but in considerably easier conditions
Saturday he couldn’t maintain the momentum.
A third round 77, as others took advantage
of the easier scoring, dropped him well down the leader board as several
players shot in the 60’s. He eventually finished T26.
Five Australasians finished in the top-10
at the tournament, the third on the PGA TOUR China schedule for 2015.
Peter Cooke and David Lutterus were leading
Australians in a share of third while Matt Jager, Alex Hawley and New Zealand’s
Ben Campbell all held a share of 10th place.
Scott Laycock and Max McCardle finished one
shot outside the five way tie for 10th with Christopher Brown (T18)
and Ray Beaufils (T22) rounding out the Australasians in the top-25.
Lutterus and Cooke have now joined New
Zealand’s Josh Geary inside the top-10 on the Order of Merit, Lutterus in
seventh while Cooke is 10th. Jamie Arnold is 11th on the
money list.
The top five earners at the end of the 12
event series receive status on the secondary Web.com Tour in the US.
