The inaugural Peaches Fruit Market/Tyrepower Victorian Senior Masters event on the PGA Legends Tour was taken out over the weekend by Steve Conran at Midlands Golf Club, Ballarat.

Players were greeted with perfect weather and course conditions on day one and it was NSW’s Mark McFadden who got off to a flying start off the 10^th with three birdies, he then picked up two more to go out in 5-under the card.

The only blemish was a bogey on the par-4 2^nd but a birdie on the 4^th followed by an eagle on the par-5 6^th resulted in the best score of the day; 7-under 65.

Despite having retired from main Tour tournaments, Peter Senior,  a crowd favourite, proved still competitive to finish day one with a score of 5-under 67 which included seven birdies.

Peter O’Malley (69), Senior PGA Champion Martin Pettigrew (69), Michael Harwood (70) and eventual winner Conran (70) were among the strong chasing field at the end of round one.

Conran found form in the second round to shoot the score of the day, his 66 which was blemish free was enough to see him join Queenslander Craig Warren in a playoff, Conran nailed an 18-foot birdie to snatch an unlikely win from Warren.

Grant Kenny, David Merriman and Peter O’Malley finished in tied third position.
