Brad Burns has won the Catalina Legends Pro-Am with a two-round total of 5-under 139.
Burns put on a dominant display amongst a field of 64 Ladbrokes Legends Tour players at Catalina Country Club.
The two-day $25,000 event is very popular amongst players so it was no surprise to see past champions including Lucien Tinkler, Brad Burns as well as Order of Merit leader Michael Harwood tee it up.
At the conclusion of round one Steve Conran and Brad Burns led the field with rounds of 3-under 69.
Peter Woodward fired a 2-under 70 to sit one behind the leaders going into the second round while Simon Jagot and Richard Gilkey were the only other players to break par at 1-under 71.
With an all professional field teeing off on the second day it gave locals a great opportunity to watch some of Australia’s greats despite threatening weather.
Some overnight rain made for a softer course, meaning players could really fire at most pins.
It was no surprise that players a little further back in the pack were making significant moves given the conditions and leading the charge was recent Bermagui Legends Pro-Am winner Glenn Joyner.
His 4-under 68 which was the low round for the tournament would see him finish 2-under for the event.
However consistent performing Queenslander Brad Burns once again got the job done for his second victory in three years at the Catalina event.
Burns closed the tournament with a stress-free 2-under 70 to go with his first round of 3-under 69. Burns’ 5-under total of 139 would see him win by a convincing three shots.
“I love coming down here to play at Catalina Country Club,” Burns said in an emotional speech.
“Everyone is so accommodating and I have fond memories around here. I’d really like to thank a couple of the boys I travel with, Mark Tickle and Tomas Mezera, for all their help and support.”
Joyner claimed outright second place with a 2 under 142 total.
Rounding out the top five were John Onions with 1-under 143 followed by Ken Tarling and Tim Elliott who were one behind on even-par 144.
The Legends Tour will tee it up next at the Gerringong Golf Club.
