Bransdon and Millar’s friendly banter - PGA of Australia

Bransdon and Millar’s friendly banter

A bit of friendly banter between mates never goes astray and there was sure to plenty of that in the Bransdon, Millar residence last night.

A bit of friendly banter between mates never goes astray and there was sure to plenty of that in the Bransdon, Millar residence last night.

"MattMatt Millar and David Bransdon are veterans of the PGA Tour of Australasia and travel from tournament-to-tournament together.

Years of friendship have also created plenty of light hearted competiveness between the pair which was on display at the Isuzu Queensland Open when they finished tied second on 4-under the card after two rounds.

Coming into the clubhouse first after an adventurous day on course, Bransdon was pleased to hear he was tied with Millar if for no other reason than it would make car pooling to the weekend rounds easier.

"It’ll make it a lot easier for us travelling in the one car, so that’d be nice if we were similar scores," said Bransdon who is also aware that he is trailing Millar in the wins department this season.

"Rug (Millar) won the New Zealand  PGA and I nearly won the New Zealand Open the next week, so it’d be nice (a win) because he still has that over me in the household cause I’m not a tournament winner this year."

After finishing his round and seeing he was tied with Bransdon, Millar was only too happy to remind Bransdon of their standing on Tour this season.

"I was able to say before the NZ Open, "Has anybody seen the Order of Merit?" Then he (Bransdon) went so well at the NZ Open and since then he has come back at me with that but I just keep saying, "oh mate it doesn’t matter about that, it’s about the category, you’re in, you’re obviously, further down,"
said Millar.

"yeah we go back and forth with a bit of banter, its good."

But as good as Millar dishes out the banter he knows it’s coming back his way in return.

"He will be giving me a bit of stick no doubt but I don’t worry about that, I don’t worry about where he is and where I am," added Millar.

"I just hope we don’t play together we don’t have a good record playing together, or he certainly plays badly when we play together."

As it turns out Millar and Bransdon are playing a group apart in the third round and both have opened with birdies to take a share of the lead early.
