Kurt Barnes is producing some of his best golf of the season as the Japan Tour enters its final stretch of tournaments, two top-20 finishes in his last three starts moving him closer to retaining his card for 2018.

""Barnes was the leading Australian at this week’s Mynavi ABC Championship, the second tournament in a row cut short by bad weather.

Last week’s Bridgestone Open was shortened to 36 holes while this week’s tournament was declared over after 54 holes, Barnes T16 when the decision was made.

Three consecutive rounds of 70 had the Newcastle golfer 6-under and earned a cheque for a little over AU$16,000 to move Barnes to 81st on the money list.

The top-70 at season’s end maintain full playing rights with those outside receiving some playing opportunities though not likely a full schedule.

Brendan Jones was next best of the three Australians in the field three shots behind Barnes and T36 while David Bransdon finished 1-under for the 54 holes to be T50.
