Aaron Baddeley has led home the Australian challenge at the PGA TOUR’s opposite field Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.

Baddeley and Cameron Percy were the only two Australians to finish in red figures for the week, Baddeley 4-under and T30 while Percy was one shot further back and T34.

A final round of 1-over 73 saw the two-time Australian Open champion slip seven places down the standings while Percy’s 71 saw him climb nine spots.

Stuart Appleby (T59) and Greg Chalmers (T68) were the only other Australians to make the weekend, Matt Jones, Robert Allenby and Steven Bowditch all missing the cut while Mark Hensby was disqualified after an opening 78.

After solid opening rounds of 69-68 it was a cold putter that proved costly for Baddeley over the weekend.

Normally among the leaders in the putting statistics, he gave up shots to the field on the greens in each of the closing rounds with Strokes Gained Putting numbers in the negative.

Percy, too, was hurt by poor putting but only in round two when a 2-over 74 saw him drop out of the top-20.

However, he hit back at the weekend with consecutive scores of 71, his first start for the year a productive one given he has limited status again for the 2018 season.
