Scott Arnold endured an inexplicable horror hole in the first round of the Challenge Tour’s EMC event in Italy, a six-over-par 11 at the par-5 9th effectively ending his week.
Arnold, who posted his first victory on the
European Challenge Tour in France three weeks ago, is on the cusp of breaking
into the top 15 on the Order of Merit but didn’t help his cause with this
week’s missed cut.
The opening round 80, which included the 11
and a double bogey six on the previous hole, ended his chances of making the
weekend and moving further up the standings.
It was little consolation but Arnold did
birdie the closing two holes in the first round and shot a much more
respectable even par 71 in the second round.
The Tour now moves to Ireland before the
final two events are staged in China and Oman.
