Lucien Tinkler and Martin Peterson have shared the spoils at the Roseville Golf Club Gold Mashie & Ladies Pro- Am.

While Tinkler and Peterson took home the main prize Brad Burns won the Gold Mashie for the best score in the final round. Burns joins a long list of winners with the Gold Mashie celebrating its 90^th year.

With the Roseville Golf Club always proving a test over the years players knew that breaking par would give them a great chance of taking out the $35,000 two day event.

True to form the course proved tricky and heading into the final round everyone was chasing Lucien Tinkler who shot a 3-under 63. The only other players to break par on day one were Martin Peterson and Tod Power just one shot back from Tinkler on 2-under the card.

Through nine holes in the final round, both Tinkler and Peterson were tied and had separated themselves from the rest of the field.

The back-9 was like a match play battle which seemed to be going Peterson’s way when Tinkler bogeyed the 15^th and 16^th holes to fall two shots behind.

To Tinkler’s credit, he remained patient and came back with two birdies on the 17^th and 18^th to tie Peterson for the win with an even-par 132 total.

“I’m really honoured to win here at Roseville Golf Club,” said Peterson.

“Many years ago I came here as an amateur and got to play with great professionals so it’s a thrill to come back as a professional and win the event.

“I’ve got to hand it to Lucien, he didn’t have his A-game today but he remained patient and made two great birdies on the final two holes to tie me.”

The Gold Mashie was secured by Brad Burns after surviving a count back from six other players. One of those players, Shaquill Mongol, finished in a tie with Burns for third on 3-over 135 for the two days.

Rounding out the top-5 were Guy Wall, Tod Power, David Hando and Alan Cooper on 4-over 136. Cooper also won the Super Senior section of the event.

The Ladbrokes Legends Tour will move to Elanora Country Club on Monday.
