Terry Price has claimed his biggest win of the year with a victory at the NSW/ACT Senior PGA Championship at Mollymook Golf Club on the famed Hilltop Course.
Price fired back to back rounds of two-under-par 70 for a 36-hole total of (-4) 140 to tie Michael Harwood who had to birdie his last hole of the day to force a playoff with Price.
Harwood closed with a three-under-par 69 and was hopeful of claiming his second NSW Senior PGA title after he won the event at Oatlands Golf Club in 2009.
Price said he was delighted to take the title and thanked Mollymook golf club for hosting such a wonderful championship.
"The golf course is just sensational and really was a wonderful test of golf for all legends professionals.
"It really makes you think about every shot and provides such a unique golfing experience" added Price who was one of many players who recognised the Mollymook Hilltop layout as one of the best on the E-Z-GO Legends Tour.
In front of a anxious crowd, the playoff took only one hole to decide the champion.
Both players came up short on the difficult par-three ninth hole leaving short pitches to set up a par saving putt.
It was Price who got the better of the usually steady Harwood, who ran his chip eight-feet past the cup, while Price left himself a straight forward three-foot uphill putt for par.
When Harwood missed his putt, Price calmly rolled in his putt for the title and a handy winner’s cheque of more than $5,000.
Price said he was unlikely to make the trip to Mauritius which is the final event on the European Senior Tour but after this win, Price says he will give it some more thought.
The E-Z-GO Legends Tour Order of Merit leader Tim Elliot struggled on the final day, posting a six-over-par 78 to finish in a tie for 14th.
Round one leader Noel Ratcliffe could not continue his red hot form on the final day, closing with a three-over-par round of 75 to finish in a tie for third at even-par with fellow New South Welshman Steven Aisbett who carded rounds of 71-73.
Players now head to Queensland for two more events in Noosa before returning to NSW to take part in the season ending E-Z-GO Legends Tour Championship at Byron Bay which begins on Friday 19th December.
