David Bransdon has held steady at the BMW New Zealand Openand continues to lead after the second round played cross The Hills andMillbrook Resort in Queenstown.

"DavidPlaying at Millbrook Resort, which was the more challenging layout in the first round, Bransdon played a steady brand of golf on his way to shooting a 2-under 69.

"It was a good day. I kept out of the trouble, kept it in play and kept it on the greens," said Bransdon.

"I just didn’t make the putts I did yesterday. I found them a lot harder to read over at Millbrook."

"I really struggled with being definitive on my lines so I couldn’t expect too much when I was half guessing some of the time."

A two time winner on the PGA Tour of Australasia, Bransdon is now focused on winning a major event on Tour.

"I’ve won at a state based level and that’s what we strive for as Professionals golfers, to jump levels – to jump up rungs on the ladder," added Bransdon who won the 2010 WA PGA Championship and 2013 Heritage Classic.

"My next step is a major event on Tour, after that it’s on an overseas Tour and you just don’t know what happens from there."

West Australian Matt Jager fired the round of the day. A 9-under 63 at The Hills has him tied second with Aaron Pike on 10-under the card.

"I knew right from the start that the birdies were happening," said Jager who made a birdie at the 10th, his first hole of the day.

"I just kept the ball in play off the tee really well; I didn’t make any loose swings."

"Over the last couple of years, whenever I have been getting it going a couple of loose ones have cost me."

Rounding out the top-5 on the leaderboard at 10-under the card is Won Joon Lee, who co-led overnight with Bransdon.

He had an even par round at Millbrook Resort despite missing his practice round on the layout when his clubs did not arrive in Queenstown.

Tied with him are Jordan Zunic and Anthony Houston who had second rounds at The Hills of 6-under 66 and 5-under 67 respectively.

The second round cut was made at 3-under the card with 71 Professionals and just one amateur, Josh Munn (NZ) making the weekend rounds.

The biggest victims of the cut were defending champion Dimitrios Papadatos, Peter O’Malley, Greg Turner and Gareth Paddison.

Meanwhile, Aaron Pike is in good shape to do the double with a handy lead in the Pro-Am teams event with two rounds to play.

Pike and his amateur teammate Simon George finished the day at 22-under-par, three shots clear of the field.

Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne and his playing partner Peter O’Malley are in a group of three teams tied for second at 19-under, while Mark Richardson and Kristopher Mueck are at 16-under.

The Amazing Race presenter Phil Keoghan and Kiwi Doug Holloway are also at 16-under while former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara is the only other celebrity in one of the top 30 teams to make the cut, sneaking in right on the bubble at 14-under-par with Kiwi pro Michael Long.
