Cain too good at Blackwater Pro-Am

Blustery conditions have made for difficult play in the final round of the Blackwater Pro-Am today, with only three professionals managing to break par in today’s second round.

Blustery conditions have made for difficult play in the final round of the Blackwater Pro-Am today, with only three professionals managing to break par in today’s second round.

"MarcusMarcus Cain managed his ball the best, firing a 2-under par 70 to finish at 7-under and win by two shots.

Unfortunately overnight leader Paul Hayden found the going tough early and never recovered to finish in a tie for second with Adam Blyth and Callan O’Reilly, two shots behind Cain.

"The wind certainly made things more difficult for the duration of today’s final round, with the firm, fast greens needing respect if you were to post a score," said Hayden.

"Although it is disappointing to have finished second, I need to draw the positives from my round today and move onto Emerald which starts on Saturday. There are a lot of good things happening with my game at the moment and hopefully I can use this week’s performance as a catalyst for better results over the final three tournaments of the Mining Town Series."

Although still leading the PCR Polyweld Mining Town Series, Tim Hart’s lead has been cut to two shots from Marcus Cain, with Adam Blyth a further two shots back in third.
