South Australian Adam Bland has made history at the Japan PGA Championship Nissin Cupnoodle Cup on Sunday; becoming the first Australian to win the tournament after firing 1 over 72 in the final round to end his campaign on 16-under and a three stroke victory over Sang-Hee Lee of Korea

Played at the Taiheiyo Club and Associates Konan Course in Japan, Bland opened his assault on the Championship firing 7-under 64 in the opening round which included nine birdies, to be one shot off the lead going into round two.  

A 3-under 68 in the second round followed by a third round of 7-under 64 propelled Bland to 17-under heading into round four and six shots clear of Japan’s Hiroshi Iwata.

Bland, who is originally from Mildura in northern Victoria, has had two top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour of Australasia in 2015, with his best finish (T6) at the Victorian PGA Championship in February at Huntingdale Golf Club.

Bland, a former member of the Royal Adelaide Golf Club, earned his credentials on the Japan Golf Tour after success at Qualifying School in December 2013.
