Swiss chance for Aussie Asian Tour stars

After several co-sanctioned events in the Asian region earlier this year the European Tour returns the favour this week when it teams up with the Asian Tour to stage the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.

"AdamThe arrangement once again presents a number of Australians who play full time in Asia the chance to earn valuable world ranking points, and official European Tour money, if they can find form for the week.

With many of Europe’s top stars electing to take the week off after last week’s gruelling Open Championship the Swiss Masters is a huge opportunity, a win earning automatic status on one of the world’s biggest Tours.

European Tour regulars Scott Hend, Marcus Fraser, Richard Green, Wade Ormsby, Andrew Dodt and Jason Scrivener are joined by Asian Tour players Marcus Both, Unho Park and Adam Groom.

Nathan Holman has also received an invitation to play this week.

Late call up tonight into @EuropeanTour Masters this week. Going to play blind golf ⛳️ great to get another @EuropeanTour start. #getit

Fraser would be the favourite among the Australians coming off a good week at St Andrews but also having finished second here in 2012.

A top-20 finish at the Old Course, where he was solid in all departments of the game, will see him tee up with plenty of confidence in an event last won by an Australian in 2007 when Brett Rumford saluted.

Scott Hend will be another worth watching after a disappointing missed cut at St Andrews. Hend was extremely unhappy with officials at the Old Course after dropping two shots in the brief restart of play on Saturday morning.

Hend blasted the decision to re-start in high winds and, after missing the cut by the two shots he dropped, will no doubt feel he has something to prove this week.

Late call up for @omegaEUmasters can’t wait to get there!!
