A blistering final round from first year Japan Tour player Matt Griffin rocketed him up the leader board at a low scoring Fukushima Open at the weekend.

"MattGriffin’s 6-under 66 jumped him from the
top 25 to T13, the cheque for just shy of AU$10,000 seeing him up to 65th
on the money list.

Griffin has found his feet on the Tour in
his last few starts, this result coming after a T8 finish at the Musee Platinum
Open a fortnight ago, his best of the year to date.

The two time PGA Tour of Australasia winner
has made five of his nine cuts in a year where Australasians have performed
extremely well in Japan.

With victories by both Michael Hendry and
Adam Bland in the first three events of the season and Queensland’s Brad Kennedy
posting two runner-up finishes the strong Australian contingent are dragging
each other along.

There are 10 Australasians playing full
time in Japan this year though only three played this week’s smaller purse
Fukushima Open.

Griffin was joined in the field by New
Zealand’s David Smail (T25) and Matthew Guyatt (T46).
