Steve Allan has kept his dream of playing the 2016 PGA TOUR alive with a top-5 finish in the second last Web.com Tour event of the season.
The Victorian veteran moved to 29th on the money list with one event to go and needing to be top-25 to be assured a PGA TOUR card for next year.
Allan finished in a share of fourth at the news Sentinel Open to move up from 32nd on the money list but so competitive is the race for cards that just a single shot lower would likely have seen him inside the top 25.
When he began the final round in outright second he was projected to move as high as 14th on the standings but a 1-under 70 left him five behind winner Patton Kisser and one out of a share of second.
Adam Crawford and Bryden Macpherson also moved up the money list after finishing T34 but neither broke into the top 100 who keep Web.com cards at the end of the year.
Aron Price made a promising start to the tournament with three rounds in the 60’s but a disappointing 75 on Sunday saw him fall outside the top-20 to T38.
James Nitties sits 100th on the money list after a T42 finish this week while Brett Drewitt (T52) and Bronson La’Cassie (T57) were the last of the Australians to make the cut.
Nick Flanagan, Alistair Presnell, Rhein Gibson, Mathew Goggin, Ash Hall and Oliver Goss all missed the weekend’s play.
There is one full field event remaining on the secondary Tour this season with money list positions after next week’s Winco Foods Portland Open determining places on the PGA and Web.com Tours for next season.
The top-25 earn promotion to the PGA TOUR, the top-75 join 126-200 off the PGA TOUR FedEx Cup standings list to vie for a further 25 main Tour cards in a four tournament qualifying series while those 75-100 retain Web.com playing rights.
Those outside the top 100 will have to return to Q-School to earn a place on next year’s Web.com Tour.
