There was no such thing as silence around the 18th hole at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast today as more than 300 local kids enjoyed a day of fun and games at the inaugural Australian PGA Kids Day.
There was no such thing as silence around the 18th hole at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast today as more than 300 local kids enjoyed a day of fun and games at the inaugural Australian PGA Kids Day.
Autograph signing sessions and golf demonstrations with Tour Pro’s Brett Rumford, John Senden, Peter O’Malley, David Lingmerth, Peter Lonard, Ryan Fox, Ollie Goss, James Nitties and Nick Cullen were a highlight of the day with local kids able to get up close and personal with some of Australia and the World’s biggest golfing stars.
A special group of future Australia golfers were also given the chance to learn from the best as Cameron Smith, the hottest young Aussie golf talent in the world, joined by Antonio Murdaca, conducted a junior clinic for local MyGolf (Australia’s national junior introductory program to develop and promote participation in golf) participants.
A Q&A session with defending Champion Greg Chalmers had him on his toes with some intense grilling coming from the pint sized journalists in the room.
A question from the floor about who he hated most on Tour had him stumped before he regained his composure and was able to teach the kids a valuable lesson; you may not like everyone you have to play with, be that in the school yard or on the golf course, but it’s important to respect them.
Dreamworld’s Kenny and Belinda were on hand with high fives and cuddles their speciality
Dreamworld’s Kenny and Belinda, a jumping castle and slide, face painting, balloon artist and a Digital Chill Out Zone where kids were able to escape the heat and play the new EA Sports PGA TOUR 15 game were also popular across the day.
All attendees on the day received a show bag filled with goodies and best of all great stories to take home.
The 2015 Australian PGA Championship, Australia’s richest golf tournament, gets underway this week at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
