Despite losing full status on the Web.com Tour last year both Bronson La’Cassie and Adam Crawford get a chance to begin the long road back with starts at the Brasil Champions event this week.
Both players finished outside the top 100 on last year’s money list and will have limited playing opportunities for the upcoming season so both know this week is an important one.
The pressure is obviously high under the circumstances but with nothing to lose both can also afford to play with a level of freedom and that might be to their advantage.
In all there will be eight Australians teeing up this week with Steve Allan, Mathew Goggin, Greg Chalmers, Oliver Goss, Brett Drewitt and Bryden Macpherson joining La’Cassie and Crawford in the field.
Chalmers boasts the best record for 2016 among those teeing up this week after a T7 in Louisiana a fortnight ago but he was disappointing in last week’s Puerto Rico event despite the good lead up.
Mathew Goggin has struggled with an elbow injury to star the year but appears to be on the mend and will be looking to improve on two missed cuts and a WD to date.
Bryden Macpherson comes into the week off a T20 in his last outing, his best finish on the Web.com Tour since a T18 in August last year.
The former British Amateur champion brings renewed confidence into this season after a hot finish on the PGA Tour China last year and will be motivated to post good results early.
Oliver Goss and Brett Drewitt round out the Australian challenge, both playing solid though unspectacular golf in the first three events of the season.
Both have made two of three cuts and finished mid-field when they have played the weekend but with a long season ahead there is plenty of time to round into form.
