Aaron Wilkin has captured the 2016 Mack Hall Cottelsoe Open following a closing round of 6-under 66 to overtake round one leader and 2015 defending champion, Michael Long.
Wilkin had to battle strong winds in today’s final round and was very happy to close out the win on the tough Cottesloe Golf Club layout.
The 23-year-old from Queensland has enjoyed a strong season in 2016 with three wins to his name and a runner up finish in last month’s, South Pacific Export Radler PNG Open.
Wilkin was able to overtake Rick Kulacz, who is starting to show signs of the form which took him to the top of the game as a young Professional.
"I’m just trying to enjoy playing again and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to come out and play here in my home town," Kulacz said.
Kulacz fired a low round of 7-under 65 to finish one behind Wilkin with 2016 Victorian PGA Championship winner, Ash Hall, a shot further back on 8-under the card.
