Southern PGA Trainee Championship.
The PGA Trainee at Marangaroo Golf Club in Western Australia
won the title by five shots at Tocumwal Golf Club.
Coming into the final round after three consecutive days of
shooting 3-under 69, Martin cruised to victory fired 2-under 70 on the Captains
Course to finish on 11-under 277.
Yarrawonga Trainee Adam Burdett shot a final round 69 to
finish on 6-under 282 and claim an outright runner-up finish.
Burdett was the leading Victorian Trainee and so was awarded
the Victorian Trainee Championship title with the competition run concurrently
to the Southern PGA Trainee Championship.
New South Welshman Trent Smith and Robert Attwood finished
in a tie for third on 4-under the card.
Zak Fuller (SA) & Travis Lord (WA) finished tied fifth
on 2-under 286. Fuller collected the South Australian Trainee Championship as
the leading player from South Australia.
Scoring was much better during the final round with the
players greeted by the best weather of the week.
All the players commented on the excellent condition of the
course and thanked the Tocumwal Golf Club for hosting another successful
tournament.
